About this coffee: Almost all coffee grown in El Salvador is Bourbon, the variety was introduced to the country in the 1920’s and has proven to yield reliable quality. However, this makes it difficult for producers to stand out from the rest of the coffee grown in El Salvador.

When Jorge Rivera Jr took over his father’s farm, he saw potential for coffee to be grown in the north-west area of his father’s estate, called Santa Rosa. The farm was being used to grow timber until 2003, when Jorge Rivera Jr started to grow coffee there in pursuit of the new Cup of Excellence award.

Santa Rosa has won the award twice awards since 2003, and its coffee has been famed for its nutty flavours and rich body.
